Welcome to Saybrook University’s Transfer Credit Portal

Are You Eligible To Transfer Credits?

  • Generally, most students are able to transfer a number of credits toward their M.A., M.S., or Ph.D. degree program.
  • You may be eligible to transfer a maximum of 12 credits toward your master’s degree or 15 credits toward your doctorate if you have completed graduate-level coursework from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Transferable coursework must have received a grade of B or above (or equivalent) and must parallel courses offered at Saybrook.
  • The academic program chair will assist with evaluating your previous degree work for the recommended number of transferable credits.

How Does the Transfer Credit Evaluation Work?

Approved transfer credits may lower your tuition costs by decreasing the number of courses you need to complete at Saybrook. However, they will not impact the total number of credits required for your degree.

Visit our academic catalog for detailed criteria regarding transferring graduate school credit by specific degree program.

Can You Transfer Credit From Quarter System Colleges?

Yes, you can. Eligible credit from quarter system colleges will be seamlessly converted to our semester credits. Note that on your Saybrook transcript, these credits will appear as a block and not with specific course titles.

Important Notes:

  • While studying at Saybrook, credits from other institutions cannot be added to your ongoing degree program.
  • Review your transfer credit evaluation when you receive it from our Admissions Office and reach out immediately with any questions or concerns.
  • Discuss removing transferred credits with your academic program chair first. You can only remove transfer credits until the end of your second semester and the removal is permanent.
  • If you’re considering transferring Ph.D. programs, your transfer credits must be evaluated again by the chair of your new program. Some previously awarded transfer credits may not align with your new program.
